What is RSS?

Subscribe To This Feed

To put it as succinctly as possible RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.

RSS provides a way to “subscribe” to a particular news or blog site and read each post as the site is updated without going to each individual page. This is accomplished through a program called a “feed reader”.

I use a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox called Sage but there are numerous readers one can use to keep up with their favorite blogs and websites.

Some of the popular ones are Google Reader, Newsgator, and Bloglines. However, there are many to pick from and you can do your own investigating if you simply do a search for “feed readers”.

Once you have chosen the reader you prefer all you have to do is create an account and you can start adding the sites you want to keep updated on. Websites like Network Marketing Journey, for example.

Quick Tip: A quick way to find out if a website or blog has a feed is to look for the roundish orange square like the one above the link you just clicked to read this article. Blogs will often have buttons listed for numerous individual readers as well, giving you another way to subscribe to them.

All in all, RSS is intended to make viewing websites whose content is frequently updated easier to do and far less time consuming.

Happy reading!
