Should I Create a Business Entity for My Network Marketing Business?

The short answer is, yes.
The long answer is, it depends.
However, before we start digging into the answers of the longer answer, I’d like to explain a couple things to you so have a clear understanding what I mean by business entity.
What Do You Mean By Business Entity?
There are four common entities a business can form. With these various entities your business will have varied liabilities and limits as far as protecting yourself as well.
They are:
- Sole Proprietorship
- C Corporation
- S Corporation
- Limited Liability Company(LLC)
Which One Is The Best Choice?
I’m far from an expert in these things but the most common choice is to start an LLC. A Limited Liability Company requires a filing with the state, and it typically protects those inolved from any debt incurred by the LLC. An example, would be Magnetic Sponsoring, LLC started by Mike Dillard, at the success of his program by the same name.
Do I Really Need It AND When Should I Create One?
As I stated in the beginning, it really depends if and when you will need to consider this option. Not to mention what your plans are for the future. I say this because you do not need to have an LLC in place to start making money (and if your goal is just to add a few hundred dollars a month to your income stream it really isn’t needed at all).
Your network marketing opportunity is just that, an opportunity to create a business. If you intend to create a business around that opportunity you will undoubtedly be planning on generating income far greater than putting a few Benjamins in your hand.
Plans such as these will include planning, creating your own products in support of your opportunity, expenses and finally risk.
To protect yourself from the possible ups and downs of such a business arrangement you’ll want to consider a business entity such as the Limited Liability Corporation to protect you from risk and debt.
