Road Blocks, Time and YOU

Tony over at Empowerment4life got me thinking about how I got started on my path of personal growth after reading his article. In response, I wrote these comments:

Hello Tony, you’ve got some great
thoughts here. I am also working towards reading the A.L Williams story
because my home based business has a direct connection to that story
(One of the members of the executive team got their start in A.L
Williams).

I just had my first year anniversary of starting out on my own on
the 3rd of this month. It was about a month after I started my business
that I realized that my business and what was required of me was MUCH
bigger that I was.

In an effort to learn more I began listening to speakers like Danni
Johnson and because of her I adopted the “Quitting is NOT an Option”
motto. Much of what you described in the way of listening in the car or
when exercising is what I do as well.

I tend to go through reading phases. I often will have a 4-5 month
period where I’ll read one book a week. Just can’t put them down. The
range is pretty broad. I read many types of books–some to relax others
to learn.

I do all of this by utilizing the small moments between the events
of my day. We’ve all got time but are we motivated to see and use the
time? Is personal growth important enough to make the time work for you?

The past year has yielded many lessons but the one I continue to draw from is knowing true wealth comes from investing in one’s self. The time spent is so worth it.

I don’t have time. (Sound familiar?)

The truth is that we all have time. It may seem as if its slipping between our fingers faster than we can get a days work done but we do. Our excuses and resistance to change is what stops us. Excuses are like road blocks in our minds. They set up shop deep in the recesses of our being, latching on to fears that we have and lay in wait for the chance to hold you back–full stop!

The best description of excuses that I’ve ever heard was on a cold calling seminar that was gifted to me. The gentleman speaking called them false evidence appearing real. You could also say that excuses are false fears appearing real.

Be creative with your time. It doesn’t take hours a day or large sums of money to find stock in yourself. Take fifteen minutes to listen to a segment of a seminar or read some articles. Take 10 minutes before bed to slowly digest a good book. Start with the little blocks of time that you know can make use of and capitalize on them. Tony mentioned listening to something while driving to work. I began my journey doing exactly that and you can too.

Give it a shot. You are worth it.

[Tim understands that in order to succeed he must learn to break through the road blocks within and takes time each day to explore them.]
