Self Sabatoge: Limiting Beliefs and the Epiphany

One of my favorite parts of my weekend is time spent with God and friends. For me, the simple act of gathering once a week Saturday night after work does wonders to rejuvenate me. This helps me a great deal but if I’m not addressing the underlying issues of fatigue and sabotage I’m trying to save a sinking ship.

While making the trip to meet my friends I recently came to realize one of the things holding me back. On these trips I’m always listening to one of two things: I’m either listening to the japanese language course OR I’m listening to a interviews conducted by Joe Vitale, and sometimes Trafficology reports.

This particular weekend I was listening to Joe Vitale (www.hypnoticgold.com). I am constantly listening to new materials from many sources because they have proven to bring out discoveries like the one I’m about to reveal.

I discovered…

A belief that I was destined to make less than my parents.

Years ago, I remember being told my generation would be the first to make less than our parents. In the beginning it didn’t bother me outside of a little annoyance at such a dismal forecast. However, it wasn’t a statement I heard from just one source. The memory of being in class and hearing these words over and over began to sink in.

As an aside: Isn’t a high school an interesting choice for delivering such a message? The one place where you are supposed to go to learn and grow, ideally to grow and do better than your parents.

Time passed and the statement was forgotten, buried by the surface noise of life, but not on a sub conscience level. I came to believe it and a.

Sabatoge Identified - Why Am I Sharing This?

I chose to share these things for one simple reason. You’ll find blog posts, articles, and thousands of resources for building a business, making money online and all manner of things involved in being an entrepreneur. But almost nobody tells you about the sweat equity they invest in themselves, to get there.

I realize its not the sexiest of subjects but if you want to find happiness, peace of mind and a bank account to match, you need to confront the internal issues.

I’ve Discovered a Limiting Belief — What Next?

Perhaps the most interesting part of all of this is figuring out how to change these beliefs once you’ve discovered them. In my experience, knowing it existed and taking action happened to be the best way to eliminate destructive beliefs.

Secondly, I continue to look deeper until I’ve found the core of the problem. Ask yourself questions like ‘Why would you chose to believe you’ll make less than your parents? Whats the payoff?’. I know, I know, sounds like an episode from Dr. Phil but it works.

Just find a quiet spot where you’ll have time to thinking without being disturbed, close your eyes and relax. Its also important not to force the issue and try to think of the answers consciously.

You are trying to reach your unconscious mind when you do this, so let it speak of its own free will. Trust me, thoughts and ideas will begin to bubble up as you allow this to happen and then ask more questions.

Most of us aren’t used to relying on our unconscious mind but it already knows the answer to the questions you seek. Rather then tapping into our unconscious minds we’ve been taught and in some cases forced to ignore it.

Teach yourself to remain calm and listen.

Believe me, you’ll find the answers you seek and in turn as you grow, so will your projects, business, and/or skills in any given area. Life is a journey and because of that we need to be vigilant in facing these things.

Good Luck and God Bless.
