Knowing When to Listen and When to Act
Filed under: goal setting, JJL, learning, life lessons
I haven’t published in awhile and its largely because I haven’t been able too.
For two and a half days I fought with Wordpress trying to figure out what the problem was, but had no luck whatsoever. Eventually I decided to contact Dreamhost support and find out if they could help me resolve the issue.
Long story short, they were able to publish something–you might have seen the post (Dreamhost Test) up for awhile if you stopped by last week. However, I was still unable to publish my article.
By this time I was getting frustrated and decided to try posting one of my drafted articles and see if it was just a problem with the post I intended to publish. After some tinkering I was able to publish and then unpublish one of my drafts (after all its just a draft for now).
I tried publishing the article a final time, and it still refused to be published, timing out every single time .
My last attempt was to copy it to a Word Document, delete the existing post and try to publish it as if it were a fresh start. Never know. There could have been an issue with the existing draft but still got nothing.
By this time its 3am, and I’m tired of tinkering with the obstinate post.
Then it occurred to me. For whatever reason, I’m not supposed to be publishing this particular article at this point in time. The universe (or God as I believe) often has a clear way of delivering a message but we rarely take the time to listen.
I exhausted every effort and did all the troubleshooting I could think of to resolve the issue and to this day, the only post I’ve been unable to publish, is that particular post.
Learning to listen is often just as important as learning to take action.
