I Think You are a Scam

Five pretty powerful words.

I received an email stating those very words. No reasoning. Nothing. My response? A thank you for the feedback.

Sharing the possibilities with people can be difficult because many people are running their own scam–on themselves. They haven’t learned how to discern between the good and the bad.

Perry Marshall has some thoughts on the necessary skill of discernment.

  1. Hi Tim,

I totally agree with you. A lot of people are making an very good, honnest living with Network Marketing by truly helping others.

But I can understand reactions like the one you got. A lot of people have been doing this business the wrong way for years harassing friends and family. And there are still a lot of illegal pyramids flooding the market today. Sometimes they just don’t know what to trust and how to research an opportunity.

It’s up to people like you and me to educate them when we have the chance and if they let us by opening their mind.

    I wish you success Tim!

    Kind regards,

    Eric

  2. Eric - You’re right, to much time has been spent teaching good people bad principles. It’s pretty easy to spot these ‘teachers’ if you know what to look for but the pyramids scams are indeed harder to spot.

One of the things I recommend most individuals who are considering any company is to talk to the representatives themselves. If they want to get past the “hype” and the cheer leading squads of six figure leaders, they need to talk to the people who are in the trenches.

If the person they are talking to seems real, then get to know them and find out more about the company. For example, if they aren’t a fluent talker but are honest with you and have something to offer you in the way of support–give them the benefit of your time. You won’t regret it.

  3. Hi Tim - what a great word, discernment. Thanks for the link to that Peggy Marshall post - it was very, very good. I hope all is well and take good care!

  4. Terry - It is a great word isn’t it? Good to see you again. Come back soon! :) Have a great one!
