I have a Confession to Make
I’m an iPod junkie.
There, I’ve said it…
Music has always been an outlet for me in the past and now, in brighter days I find that it is an inspiration. This is one of the reasons that I so enjoy reading Terrry Starbucker’s blog. I’ve always enjoyed his thoughts on music because they always reflect his Glass Half-Fullisms.
Music used to be the outlet I used to work through my anger. I was raised to treat people as you would want to be treated. So, because of those lessons and my natural habit of bottling things up I turned to the moments when I was alone, listening to music to to work out my frustrations.
However, even though I was releasing allot of anger and stress in those moments, I was also dwelling on anger and frustration. Which in the end served me no good because it only brought more of it back into my life.
These days I can be seen at work or going for walks with my iPod in hand. The difference is that the songs I listen to evoke thoughts of happiness and abundance. The frequently played music causes my heart to sore and feed the times that I’m visualizing the good that I want to see in my life.
It is exceedingly important to remember that in all things you are making choices that affect your coming days. By listening to music that generate thoughts of happiness and success I’m able to feel good in the moment, and walk stedfast into the coming day knowing that all is well.
Below is one of the songs on my iPod:
Its My Life by Bon Jovi
This ain’t a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain’t gonna be just a face in the crowd
You’re gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
Chorus:
It’s my life
It’s now or never
I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
(It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just wanna live while I’m alive
It’s my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow’s getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain’t even lucky
Got to make your own breaks
Chorus:
It’s my life
And it’s now or never
I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
(It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I’m alive
‘Cause it’s my life
Better stand tall when they’re calling you out
Don’t bend, don’t break, hell, don’t back down
Chorus:
It’s my life
And it’s now or never
‘Cause I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
(It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I’m alive
Chorus:
It’s my life
And it’s now or never
‘Cause I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
(It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I’m alive
‘Cause it’s my life

Hi Tim, thanks for the link. Your description of music as an outlet is very familiar to me - I remember cranking up “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” about a zillion times in my basement in the early-to-mid 70’s. I too much prefer music now as a source of positivity. All the best, and Happy Holidays!
