Anyone who knows me or has been reading this blog throughout the last couple years will know that I take my iPod with me everywhere I go. This handy little electronic device has helped me reframe days which have gone south, entertained me, and educated me.
This weekend, while spending time with family members from around the country, I was introduced to the idea of listening to podcasts on my iPod. This is far from a new idea and I’ve considered it but never really dug into the resources available.
Change is good and when my cousin and I got into discussions of physics, quantum physics, energy, and hypnosis (all of them based in UC Berkeley) I notebly intrigued. In fact, the first thing I did when I returned home was fire up iTunes and do some searches on these and some other favorite subjects.
One of the most recent podcasts I subcribed to is the Harvard Business Review. If you haven’t read or heard of this magazine its pretty easy to surmize the subject of the contents, based on the name.
As I looked over the list of 40+ recordings the one which caught my eye was in reference to online gaming. As a formerly avid gamer both in the online and offline realms, I was intrigued by their suggestion that these online worlds foster leadership skills within the millions of individuals who play the games.
I completely agree with this here is why: In the world of today and (most certainly tomorrow) more and more projects are being put together which bring members from all over the world together. Somethings they come from within a given corporate entity and sometimes from without.
Often the communication and execution of these projects occurs entirely online through the evolving communication channels. And that is exactly what happens in these online communities. Groups of people come together for a common goal. Some of them stand up and take a leadership position and in order for everything to work properly each person must play their role.
Granted, in business the stakes are far above that of the online gaming world but the same skills are required. The only difference is the medium and/or backdrop of the enviornment.
When these teams successfully defeat their enemies they are often rewarded with experience, treasures or rank. And as the author of the article states, this is where businesses can learn from these communities. In other words, rewarding people through bonuses and other such things to encourage more teamwork and the growth of their leadership skills.
How does this translate for a home-based network marketing business? The entire foundation of the industry is teamwork and in order to build a team you and the people beneath you must become leaders. So when someone you creates a team, leads them to continually greater heights and the team flourishes–reward them.
You can do this by placing someone you personally sponsered under them creating more compound growth for them and much more. Its entirely up to you as their leader.
