Desicion Making: What Do You Value?

The world is full of people that have stopped listening to themselves or have listened only their neighbors to learn what they ought to do, how they ought to behave, and what the values are they should be living for.- Joseph Campbell

There are countless ways to find value. The value of Pi Π. The value of intangibles in business. Finding value in an array (programming). Especially finding value for less money.

With all of this emphasis on values I find it hard to understand why there is so little discussion about what we ourselves value and how to find them.

The things we value are those people, places and things which are most important to us at any given time. They are important for two reasons. First, they are at the heart of who we are and secondly, with that kind of founding importance they give rise to our passion and desires.

These are the things which drive us forward in life.

When you have lost your way to the point of not knowing what your core values are OR have chosen to ignore them, you are stifling your inner fire.

And thats a whole can of worms nobody wants to open.

Not in their heart of hearts.

When you look at values as the root of your passions you can see why the things you value in life are important to the decision making process.

How will my actions affect my family?

Can I make money doing _____?

All of the answers to your questions and concerns begin to come clear when placed against the back drop of value.
