Life is Simple OR What Do Your Friends Say About You?

I’d like to take a moment and share a excerpt from the movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. After the excerpt I’ll close with a couple thoughts on the question which brought you here.
A little background first. Shawn just one of Han’s cars to race and failed beyond salvation. He utterly destroyed the car and the following conversation occurs after the two have bonded.
Shawn: Why’d you let me race with your car? You knew I was gonna wreck it.
Han: Why not?
Shawn: Cause its a lot of money.
Han: I have money. It’s trust and character I need around me. Who you choose to be around you lets you know who you are.
One car in exchange for knowing what a man’s made of–thats a price I can live with.
[Looking down at a bustling intersection in Japan, literally jam packed full of people.]
Look at all those people down there. They follow the rules. For what? They are letting fear lead them.
Shawn: What happens if they don’t?
Han: Life’s simple. You make choices and you don’t look back.
There are two thoughts in this scene alone which carry some weight, in my mind. First, the intention of having people of character around you and then, the final line–You make choices and you don’t look back.
So. Its no secret that our surroundings have an impact on how we grow, mature and how we feel at any given moment. But have you stopped and given some thought to what these things say about you?
In the dialog above Han talks about surrounding himself with trustworthy people of character. As an espiring entrepenuer are you surrounding yourself with people who emit the same kind of vibes of energy you [need/want] to [have/give]?
Secondly, is life really so simple? In the context of Han’s theory it is. Life is about living, making choices and not concerning yourself with yesterday. We make decisions each and everyday but if we live in the mistakes of the past, we can’t live for today.
What do you think? Is life simple?
How do you weigh and give merit to the possibilty of friendship or partnership with someone?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these things.
