“Life is either a great adventure or nothing.” - Helen Keller
There is no better example of this than Dexter himself. Dexter’s life is life is full of adventure, mishaps, and imagination. He’s absolutely hilarious and his ideas of terrorizing his little sister makes the big brother in me proud (hehe).
In all seriousness, kids are a wonder aren’t they? It never amazes me how kids can explore the world we live in with such abandon and not be held back by the fear of risk. Some weeks ago I posted a story on storytellers and discussed how fear and worry can color and distort our everyday decision making.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Dexter’s Lab for that reason. Dexter isn’t heald back by the storytellers. His imagination rules his world and every episode is an adventure. So whats my take away? Sometimes we forget that life is supposed to be an adventure. We all have hopes and dreams and I believe that they exist in us because we are meant to have them!
But…
We are creatures of experience. Throughout or lives we collect experiences and those happenings are what shapes us. What that means for the majority of us is that we begin to view our dreams as only that. Taking risks becomes something to avoid because of past experiences but in order to live your best life you must be willing to take risk.
Making the decision to live again and experience the world around you doesn’t have to be earth shattering or hard. Its about trying new things and finding what brings joy into your life. You could try a pottery class, or write a blog about a niche subject you love.
Start racking up those experiences again and just maybe you’ll find the same joy that you did when you were younger. I know that I have. Happy hunting.
Remember to Live well and love often!
